Rage Against the Machine (сокращённо RATM) — американская альтернативная группа, существовавшая с 1991 по 2000 год, и воссоединившаяся в 2007 году[1]. В их музыке сочетаются в элементы тяжёлого рока и хип-хопа (стиль получил название «рэпкор»), но более всего известная своими крайне левыми политическими взглядами. Их тексты и общественные заявления содержали резкую критику американского империализма, капитализма, глобализации, войн, а также поддержку таких репрессированных деятелей, как Мумиа Абу-Джамал, Леонард Пелтиер и Абимаэль Гузман. На своих выступлениях группа неоднократно сжигала американский флаг.

Группа Rage Against The Machine была создана в 1991 г. когда сын кенийского революционера и племянник первого президента Кении гитарист Том Морелло увидел в ночном клубе выступление мексикано-американского рэпера Зака де ла Рока. Последний пригласил в группу своего школьного друга басиста Тима Коммерфорда, и они подали объявление в газету о поиске барабанщика, на которое откликнулся Брэд Уилк. Группа отыграла своё первое выступление на вечеринке дома у друга Коммерфорда, и вскоре записала демо-кассету с 12 песнями. Записью заинтересовалось несколько лейблов, и в итоге группа подписала контракт с Epic Records, который предоставил им полный контроль над своим творчеством.

Ну что сказать, в течении огромного количества времени - самая любимая, по настоящему альтернативная (ещё и коммунистическая ) группа. Подсел ещё в самом начале 90х, после нереальных для своего времени Killing in the Name и Bombtrack. Многие песни положили основу для современного звучания стиля.
К сожалению, нынешнее творчество скатилось на ноль, даже после воссоединения - ничего кроме Re- материала и саундтреков стоящего выпущенно небыло.

Давно я чтото не слышал о них.
В 90-е была довольно известной группой.

Видать альтернативность улетучилась - в наше время сложно кого-то удивить анти-американским поведением, каждая вторая группа анти-чего-то
